A three-wheeled buggy is ideal for off-road terrain and offers an easy ride for babies. If you're looking for a buggy that can handle difficult terrain, then you'll need one with large wheels. These are made to handle dirt, cobbles, and grass tracks easily while providing smooth riding. It is also easy to move kerbs upwards and downwards and fits in a the car's boot space in a small size. It can also be used as a pram, with a carrycot or infant car seat for newborns and toddlers.

Fabric sling seats sit snugly inside the frame of the buggie rather than on top of it like modular seats. This design has a lower centre of gravity at the ideal height. It is much easier to push, and lighter to kerb pop (you don't know how many times you'll do that as a new parent!).

Seating

The capacity for 3 wheelers is impressive and there are a variety of different options to choose from. For newborns it is possible to use the included carrycot (which MFM reviewer Alice says is a comfortable and cozy lie-flat bed that can be used on and off the buggy) In addition, older babies and toddlers can be seated in the parent or world-facing seat that is spacious and cushioned and has adjustable ventilation. It's important to note that these seats aren't fully reclined however they can be adjusted to the lowest setting that will still allow your child plenty of headroom and room to move around.

A fabric sling is also available. It's a benefit that it is located within the frame, rather than on top as a seat that is modular. This creates a lower center of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, particularly on bumpy terrain or over curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this style of seat handled obstacles.

In addition to a big shopping basket, this kind of buggy usually has very useful features like an extended 50+ UV hood, an easy to use brake pedal and some game-changing visibility lights that pop up from the handlebar and can be positioned directly in front of the occupants to ensure their safety when they are tackling difficult terrain.

If you're looking for a buggy that will grow along with your family it's the sport(tm) is a world first, can accommodate infants and be modified to fit three or four children as they grow. All within one footprint.

Stores

The 3-wheeled frame makes the buggy more stable to push one handed, and it's also great for handling difficult terrain. However, it does mean that the shopping basket doesn't hold as much as a four-wheeled buggy.

A high-quality ATP will feature pneumatic tyres, a cushioned grip for added comfort, and a superb suspension. It will be able to accept a carrycot or car seat, which means you can use it right from the time of birth.

MFM's reviewers have noticed that the 3-wheeler frame doesn't pass through all doors in their homes, or small car boots - make sure to check the dimensions of the buggy when it's folded prior to purchasing if you're worried about space.

Tyres

These tyres absorb bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's journey more comfortable. She also said that its grippy tyres made it easy to tackle kerbs and cobbles.

These tyres can sometimes prove difficult to maintain their inflation and will need to be replenished regularly. These tyres are more prone to punctures, and you should always have a repair kit and spare inner tube when you're out and out and about.

PU tyres can be found on pushchairs as they are less expensive than air-filled tyres but are just as robust. You can recognise PU tire treads by their matte appearance and soft feel. They also glide well on uneven and tied surfaces.

It's usually possible to discern the distinction between air-filled and PU tires by running your hands over each one, if it feels hard, then it's made of rubber, when it slides, it's a PU. You can also verify that your buggy has PU tyres by sliding the tyres onto an even, clean surface They'll be able to roll easily and should fit snugly in their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres can withstand the rough terrain that comes with high-performance buggies. The drawback is that the foam may shrink and make your buggy appear less stable as it loses its springy nature. Also, these tyres may typically be noisy because they create a lot of noise when you turn and make your way around the town.
